Plans for the use of the Olympic Park venue after the London 2012 Olympic Games are ‘still unclear’, a London Assembly report has said.

New West Ham owners David Sullivan and David Gold have expressed their desire to move the club to the Olympic Park after the Games.

But the report said ‘The arrival of a Premier League football team in the middle of the Olympic Park may affect the character of the park and its surroundings.’

The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) has said that finding long-term uses for the venues was its ‘fundamental aim.’

The report compiled by the Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee said: ‘The media centre and the Olympic Stadium are potentially the most important venues in terms of attracting jobs and investment to the park.’

The report also suggested that the continuing uncertainty around the venue could make it ‘an island of prosperity, cut off from the surrounding community.’

Whatever the outcome, London 2012 chair Lord Coe has said that the stadium will retain its ‘track and field facility.’
