Sports TV presenter Gabby Logan is switching channels after agreeing a deal to
move from ITV to its primary terrestrial rival, the BBC.
Logan will be joining the corporation in the New Year to present its new
Sports News Programme, due to launch on BBC One by the summer of 2007. She will
also present a number of live sport events for the BBC.
A former Commonwealth Games gymnast, Logan, who has previously worked at Sky
and most recently at ITV, will also have a role as a member of Five Live’s
presenting team.
Logan’s move will be widely attributed to her demotion during this summer’s
World Cup which saw ITV’s newly acquired presenter Steve Rider handed the reins
for the crucial England games during the tournament – matches which had
previously been presented by Logan.
Rider himself had moved from the BBC earlier this year.
