In one of the most exciting years in the history of sport in this country, the activities of its governing bodies are more closely under the microscope than ever before. As the Olympics come to Britain, the organisations behind the athletes must be at the top of their game for their stars to shine on the biggest stage of all.
That’s why, in 2012, the Sport Industry Awards are teaming up with the Daily Telegraph to give the highest achievers the recognition they deserve. From winning gold medals to raising revenues, from building strong links with the community to ensuring a strong ethical position throughout its activities, one governing body will be rewarded for its leadership, vision and outstanding achievement when British sport gathers for the Sport Industry Awards on May 2nd in London.
The Award, which will focus on the four key pillars of Leadership, Performance, Ethics and Community, promises to be one of the most fiercely contested in the history of the Sport Industry Awards.
Last year, UK Athletics were crowned Sport Governing Body of the Year. In an exclusive article last month, Claire Furlong, Head of Marketing and Communications at UKA, looked back on its success and the impact on its plans for 2012.
