IMG has confirmed that it has bought CSI Sports – formerly known as Octagon CSI,
the broadcast arm of its primary market rival – for an undisclosed sum.

The media rights sales and TV production house, which became independent
company CSI Sports following a management buyout last October as it was prepared
for a sale, will be absorbed into IMG Media. Octagon is owned by Interpublic
Group.

CSI Sports’ client list includes the Football Association, the England and
Wales Cricket Board, The Football League (including the Carling Cup), Cricket
Australia, New Zealand Cricket, Cricket South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket.

‘Having successfully completed the management buyout of CSI Sports from IPG
the challenge was how to build upon the company’s sound financial platform and
excellent client portfolio to ensure future growth,’ said Chris Guinness who
will continue in his role heading up CSI Sports.

‘The complementary nature of the two companies’ businesses and the global
financial and distribution strength of IMG Media make it an ideal fit for CSI
Sports.’
