British Cycling has confirmed that London will host the inaugural British Cycling eRacing Championships, powered by Zwift.

Taking place in March, the live event will see the top ranked men’s and women’s riders compete for a national jersey and a prize pot of £1,000 in a multi-event format.

Riders will tackle an elimination race, scratch race and points race across the championships, with final race date details to be confirmed.

Delivered in partnership with Zwift, the live finals will be preceded by the British Cycling eRacing Championships Qualifier, a mass online race on Sunday 24 February.

Whilst the qualifying event will be open to anyone, to qualify for the finals and the national title, entrants will have to be a member of British Cycling.


Pentland Group Chairman Stephen Rubin, majority stakeholder in JD Sports, has been revealed as the UK’s largest taxpayer.

According to the Sunday Times’ rich list of the UK’s wealthiest people, the newspaper for the first time included a list ranking Britain’s top 50 taxpayers.

One of the UK’s largest sportswear companies, Pentland Group also owns the sports and fashion brands including Speedo, Berghaus and Ellesse.

Rubin and his family were revealed in the study to pay an estimated £181.6m in tax for the 2017/18 financial year. The figure includes £121.6m from Rubin’s stake in JD Sports and £53.2m in corporation tax owed by Pentland Group.


Harrogate-based cycling events company Struggle Events has been named by the Union Cycliste Internationale as the Official Cycling Tour Guide of this summer’s 2019 UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire.

The deal will see Struggle Events, established in 2015, host corporate cycling events for the UCI’s key partners leading up to the Championships.

Harrogate is to be the finish location for the nine days of racing throughout the 2019 UCI Road World Championships, between 21-29 September.

Matthew Mannakee, Struggle Events’ Managing Director, said: “Having the chance to work with the UCI and host some of the world’s biggest cycling companies is a massive opportunity to raise our profile even further within the industry.

“Our attention to detail, our understanding of a client’s business objective and our aim to put their brand at the forefront of their event, has attracted many companies to use our cycling events as a new way to network, entertain clients or just raise the profile of their business. It looks like corporate cycling is fast becoming the new golf.”


British Rowing has unveiled a new indoor rowing initiative for community rowing clubs, which aims to help drive participation in the sport.

The Go Row Indoor Club has been developed to support increasing demand for indoor rowing exercise classes.

It’s hoped the initiative will enable community rowing clubs to better utilise existing gym infrastructure, attract new people to clubs and generate additional revenue.

The governing body for rowing in the UK also revealed that the Go Row Indoor Club support package will provide community rowing clubs with the training, support and materials needed to run Go Row Indoor classes within club settings.


British Gymnastics community heroes have been recognised and celebrated at the 2019 British Gymnastics National Awards.

The annual awards held at Birmingham Town Hall, acknowledged the outstanding achievements made by coaches, volunteers, clubs and community members across the UK.
