Power8 Sprints has been confirmed to return as the headline act at this year’s Bristol Harbour Festival on Sunday 21st July.

The sprint rowing event created by British Rowing made its debut in 2018 at the festival, which saw crews from eight UK cities battle it out over a 350m course through the centre of Bristol.

Bristol, Cambridge, Exeter, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Oxford will all return to race in this year’s event, as they battle for the crown currently held by the crews of Manchester (men) and Oxford (women).


Global asset management firm Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) has been announced as British Universities & Colleges Sport’s (BUCS) new Women’s Hockey headline partner.

The three-and-a-half-year partnership will see BUCS Women’s Hockey Programme renamed as the BUCS & ICG Women’s Hockey Programme.

The relationship covers all five tiers and 48 leagues of the Women’s Hockey Programme, including 292 teams from over 100 universities and will also feature the BUCS Trophy and Championship competitions as part of BUCS Big Wednesday in Nottingham.

The collaboration aims to also provide opportunities to develop the next generation of young female leaders across the UK, with a central theme of “working together to deliver performance.”


Tie Break Tens has announced that Voss Water is to be its Official Bottled Water sponsor for the 2019 season of the short-form tennis format.

News of the partnership comes ahead of the inaugural event at Indian Wells next month, following tournaments in London, Vienna, Madrid, Melbourne and New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Tie Break Tens will return to the US on Tuesday 5th March in the form of The Eisenhower Cup, sponsored by Masimo, which will feature eight players, including Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Gael Monfils and Marin Cilic.

The BBC has revealed that the weekend’s Guinness Six Nations fixture between Wales and England attracted a peak audience of 8.9m, more than the most watched football match on the BBC in 2018/19.

The figure surpassed the 8.1m peak audience that tuned in to BBC One to watch the FA Cup clash between Chelsea and Manchester United on Monday 18th February.

Wales’ victory at the Principality Stadium, a record-breaking 12th consecutive win attracted nearly half (47.4%) of available viewers to BBC One, where as the FA Cup clash a week earlier attracted 38.3% of available BBC One viewers.

Sports marketing and management agency Blueprint Sports has announced the signing of NFL Player Pathway Program athlete Christian Wade in a full-service agreement that will take place with immediate effect.

Wade joins a roster of talent, rightsholders and brands that includes broadcaster Guillem Balague, presenter Layla Anna-Lee and fitness app Freeletics.

The former England, British and Irish Lions and Wasps rugby player departed Rugby union last year and is hoping to pursue a career in American Football.
