The vastly experienced ITV News programme editor Geoff Hill has been named as
the editor-in-chief for the new 24 hour Setanta Sports News channel.

Hill, who was responsible for producing the 10.30 News on ITV, will take
command of the entire editorial agenda for Setanta Sports News – a joint venture
between Virgin Media and Setanta designed to compete with Sky Sports News.

Virgin Media lost carriage of Sky Sports News as part of its package during
the ongoing debate with BSkyB over channel rates.

Hill joined ITN in 2000 first as home news editor and later as senior news
editor for ITV News.

He took charge of the coverage of the 2004 US presidential elections, the
July 7 bombings and the Israel-Lebanon conflict last year.

Before joining ITN Hill worked on ITV’s London Tonight from 1993 until 2000.
