Olympic and Paralympic ticket holders with unwanted seats now have the opportunity to resell their tickets, by submitting them on the London 2012 ticketing website from today until 3rd February.

Once submitted, the tickets will be made available for other customers to purchase during the window and, if sold, the seller will receive the full face value of their tickets.

If the tickets remain unsold by the close of the window on 3rd February, they will be returned to the ticket holder’s account – with another chance to resell in April.

The window opened at 9am on Friday morning.

Last year 22m applications for 3m tickets were made in the opening round of ticket sales, and only football tickets remain available before a final batch of 1.2m tickets are released in April.

The final batch has been held back while final seating configurations within the venues are confirmed.

According to ticket exchange website Viagogo, typically around 10%-15% of tickets for major sporting events are sold on – if this is the case, up to one million Olympic tickets could potentially be up for grabs.

People who have bought tickets through official overseas sales should contact the retailer if they want to resell.
