A new 24-hour Olympic sports television channel is set to launch in the UK in a bid to ensure that sports that have garnered a boost in interest continue to receive coverage in the wake of London 2012.
Independent television production company Highflyer has announced that London Legacy will launch in November, broadcasting 24 Olympic sports.
The channel will initially only be available through pay-television broadcaster BSkyB, but Highflyer has announced it is seeking wider distribution.
51.9m people in the UK watched at least 15 minutes of the London Games on the BBC.
The Guardian reports that the launch of London Legacy is expected to cost Highflyer around £5.5 million, with the company making the move after losing its long-time contract to produce horse racing coverage for commercial broadcaster Channel 4.
