Former Talksport chief executive Kelvin Mackenzie is to re-enter the sport
industry with the launch of a new online sports broadcaster, thecommentator.com.

Mackenzie is to launch the new site next year with users able to access live
commentary streams on major sporting events as well as blogs and podcasts.

The site will also feature a listener phone-in initially expected to
broadcast for eight hours a day before becoming a 24-hour channel later in the
year.

The controversial media mogul, who left the TWG-owned Talksport radio station
last year after it was bought by UTV, is being aided in his new venture by
former colleague and ex-managing director of Talksport Michael Franklin.

The project is in early stages of planning but it is thought that, while
football will be a major element of the content, no deal is to be signed to
include live coverage of the FA Premier League. Potential advertisers have yet
to be contacted regarding the new vehicle.
