McDonald’s has confirmed its involvement in the London 2012 Olympic volunteer programme, becoming the first ever sponsor of the initiative.
The fast-food chain, a worldwide commercial partner of the Olympics, has signed a £3m deal to be presenting partner of the volunteering programme.
London 2012 plans to recruit 70,000 volunteers for the Games and McDonald’s will provide first aid, interpreting, checking tickets and travel advice as part of its deal.
McDonald’s will use its UK restaurants to raise awareness of the volunteer programme.
LOCOG is also reportedly looking to sign a series of tier-two partners for the volunteering programme.
