McDonald’s has become a national Paralympic Partner of Sochi 2014, marking 100 days to go before the Paralympic Winter Games. Already a Worldwide TOP Partner of International Olympic Committee, the signed agreement is intended to contribute to the strengthening and development of the Paralympic Movement in Russia.

During the Paralympic Games of 2014 in Sochi, two McDonald’s restaurants specially built for the purpose of Sochi 2014 Games will serve the athletes in the Coastal Olympic Village and in the Main Media Centre, besides five restaurants of the company outside the Olympic venues.

It was also announced that the best employees of the company from the whole of Russia, real “hospitality champions”, will provide services for the guests and participants of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games.

After signing Paralympic partnership agreements, Olympic TOP Partners, like National Olympic Partners, become National Partners of the Paralympic Games, and receive the right to use Paralympic Games marks in Russia from the date of signing through to the end of 2014.

McDonald’s will now also have the right to use the RPC emblem and association with the Russian Paralympic team until the end of 2016.

President of the Organising Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, said of the deal: ‘McDonald’s has long been known for its charitable and social projects. Our goals coincide. This includes promotion of Olympic and Paralympic values and an active lifestyle as well as the development of children’s sport.’

‘The experience gained by the company over many years in supporting the Games will make a great contribution to the first ever Games without barriers in Russia.’

Meanwhile, also marking 100 days to go until Russia’s first ever Paralympic Winter Games, a unique sculpture park was opened in Sochi.

In celebration of 100 days to go, Paralympic lessons are taking place across the country and Sochi 2014 volunteers are arranging flash mobs in support of Paralympic athletes.

The countdown to the start of the Paralympic Games is being marked by OMEGA clocks in nine Russian cities.
