Michael Johnson Performance has announced two new appointments to its Great Britain operation with David Thomas and Duncan Woods joining the team at St. George’s Park.
Widely known across the United States as the destination for NFL athletes for off-season training, Michael Johnson Performance GB has continued to grow since its 2012 launch at the FA National Training Centre.
The Olympic sprint legend revealed he was launching a Pre-Season Prep Training Programme for athletes at St George’s Park earlier this year.
Now the team continues to grow, with certified strength and conditioning specialist, David Thomas, joining MJP-GB Performance as performance specialist, after a successful period at Michael Johnson Performance headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
Meanwhile Duncan Woods, formerly employed by MJP partner Perform St. George’s Park, moves across to MJP-GB taking up the role of head of business development.
Duncan boasts more than twenty years of experience in the Education sector, having developed and led several educational sports training programmes.
A former GB Hockey International with 90 caps and a Commonwealth Bronze Medal, Woods is now a high performance hockey specialist, coaching athletes from grassroots through to Senior International level.
Michael Johnson, founder of Michael Johnson Performance, commented: ‘I am delighted to announce the two new additions to the MJP team at St. George’s Park during a very exciting period for our business in Great Britain.’
‘We were extremely impressed with David when he spent last autumn with MJP in the States as part of our intense apprenticeship programme. As a Performance Specialist he will be an excellent asset to the MJP-GB team, working with MJP clients alongside Brock Christopher.’
The Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record holder added: ‘Duncan’s background in Youth Sport in the UK is extensive and he will be a huge asset to the growth of our business. His role as Head of Business Development will be instrumental to the upcoming launch of MJP-GB’s Youth Performance classes.’
