The Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club is delighted to announce its final two panels of 2014, which will include the man responsible for changing the face of the UK’s broadcasting landscape, the most influential person in world rugby, the Vice President of FC Barcelona, a Rugby World Cup winning coach, and a four-time Olympic gold medal winning sprint legend.
The remaining two events of 2014 will see BT Sport’s John Petter, Premiership Rugby’s Mark McCafferty and Dorna Sports’ Manel Arroyo take to the stage before Olympic legend Michael Johnson and coaching guru Sir Clive Woodward speak to the exclusive club on 26th September and 10th November, respectively.
The Club, which brings together an audience from across UK and European sport to meet, network and hear from key figures on a range of topical issues, is again backed by Nolan Partners, the leading specialist Executive Search firm in sport with an unrivalled reputation for senior level recruitment across the industry.
John Petter, Head of BT’s Consumer Division, is the man behind the rise of BT Sport and will speak at The BT Centre a year on from launching one of the most ambitious projects in sport that has already seen an estimated £2bn outlay on football rights, with UEFA Champions League coverage secured from next season, broadcasting to more than five million households already signed up to the service.
Mark McCafferty was recently named the most influential man in global rugby by Rugby World magazine after masterminding the creation of the European Rugby Champions Cup. The Chief Executive of Premiership Rugby was instrumental in the formation of the new re-branded tournament and helped negotiate the £152m deal to bring the Aviva Premiership to BT Sport.
The pair will be joined by Manel Arroyo, Managing Director and a shareholder of Dorna Sports & MotoGP, and Vice President of FC Barcelona. With a background in World Rally, successfully adding the Catalunya Rally entry to the FIA World Rally Championship calendar, Arroyo is now responsible for all media activities for the organisers of the Moto GP World Championship, and has enjoyed a burst of popularity for the sport since its move to the channel, amidst transfer bans at the La Liga club and a controversial move for a certain Liverpool striker in the summer.
The final event of 2014 will see Michael Johnson and Sir Clive Woodward take to the stage on 10th November to offer the industry an exclusive insight into the art of Performance through experience, technology, expertise, training, and business.
The 400m world record holder, who remains the only man to win both the 200m and 400m sprint in the same Olympics, has this year expanded his Michael Johnson Performance (MJP) brand to St George’s Park in the UK. Since retiring, Johnson has taken to improving the output of young stars through MJP around the world and also featured heavily in the BBC’s coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Since redefining the art of coaching on his way to the famous Rugby World Cup win in 2003, Sir Clive Woodward went on to the British Olympic Association, taking Team GB to a record medal haul at London 2012.
