Over one million people have registered an interest for tickets at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games via the online ‘Sign Up’ campaign.
The website www.tickets.london2012.com opened in March, offering online registration for 8 million tickets.
Organisers said 96% of registrations came from UK residents with 32% of that figure coming from the Greater London region, 27% from the South East and 41% from the rest of the country.
London 2012 chair Lord Coe is pleased at the figures: ‘It should come as no surprise that the British public is so enthused by the prospect of world class sport coming to these shores.’
‘What has been really interesting is that there has been significant interest across all Olympic and Paralympic sports. I would urge people to continue to sign up and ensure they are in the front row for information between now and 2012,’ added Coe.
Tickets officially go on sale in 2011 and prices have yet to be revealed.
