Switzerland’s Denis Oswald is set to announce his resignation as President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations in order to allow the organisation to retain a position on the International Olympic Committee Executive Board – according to media reports.

??Oswald, who is also President of the International Rowing Federation (FISA) and chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for London 2012, will finish his term as an IOC Executive Board member this summer at London 2012 but his four-year term as ASOIF President does not expire until May 2013.

The IOC will not allow Oswald to remain on the Executive Board to the point where his ASOIF Presidency expires in 2013 but it is understood that if he resigns as ASOIF President at the end of this year, five months before his term in the ASOIF role expires, he will be allowed to retain his Executive Board seat until the end of December 2012.
