Sports nutrition brand, PhD woman, has announced a partnership with Mudderella, set to host their inaugural event on 30th August at Boughton House Estate in Northamptonshire.

The women-only event sees participants take on the special obstacle course designed by women, for women.

The formation of the event follows the recent boom in extreme-mud running through obstacle courses, with the likes of Spartan Race and Tough Mudder growing in popularity every year – the latter of which told sportindustry.biz last month that it expects to break the 100,000 participants mark in the UK later this year.

The partnership with Hull-based PhD Nutrition will see them working specifically with their PhD woman brand to provide participants of the gruelling course with the nutrition and recovery support they need.

Brooke Smart, marketing manager at PhD woman, said: ‘We’re delighted to be working with Mudderella this year. We love what Mudderella is all about, empowering women and taking pride in their strength, along with being a great, fun way to take part in a really intense work out.’

‘We believe our range of PhD woman products is perfect for those taking part before, during and after the demanding obstacle course.’

After debuting in the United States, the UK event will reportedly see around 2,500 participants battle through the course.

Mudderella courses feature 12 – 15 obstacles over 5 – 7 miles and to reinforce participants’ dedication to personal aspirations and fitness, Mudderella events are not timed.

Nikki Emerson, commercial manager at Mudderella, added: ‘We are thrilled to have partnered with PhD woman for our 2014 event. Mudderella is a challenge suitable for women of all fitness levels and the range of PhD woman products fits perfectly with our audience. Our events in America have been a huge success so far, so we are really looking forward to kicking things off in the UK, and welcome the support of such a great brand.’
