Record-breaking US swimmer Michael Phelps is set to appear at the Olympic handover celebrations in London next weekend.
Phelps, who won a record-breaking eight golds in Beijing giving him the highest number of gold medals in Olympic history, will travel straight from Beijing to London to take part in the celebrations.
London 2012 organisers are planning an event on the Mall to coincide with Sunday’s closing ceremony in Beijing.
The 23-year old Phelps has made clear his intention to compete at London 2012 as he looks to add to his career total of 14 gold medals.
