South African swimming star and London 2012 Olympic gold medallist, Chad Le Clos, has signed with Professional Sports Group.

Le Clos has achieved consistent success since entering the senior competitive circuit. In 2010, he won Men’s 200m butterfly gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the FINA Short Course Swimming World Championships in Dubai. In 2011, he clinched the overall Swimming World Cup title when he secured his 23rd gold medal of the series on the final day in Tokyo. At London 2012, Chad beat Michael Phelps to win gold in the 200m butterfly. He also won a silver medal in the 100m butterfly.

Speaking about the signing Chad commented: ‘I’m delighted to join Professional Sports Group. I believe they are the right team to help me with the next stage of my career and I’m looking forward to working with them.’

Chad joins a host of other Olympic athletes at Professional Sports Group including Sir Matthew Pinsent, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee and Tom Daley, with whom Professional Sports Group won the inaugural award for Best Management of Sportsperson at the BT Sport Industry Awards in 2013.

Professional Sports Group will be the exclusive agent handling all Chad’s commercial and media activities globally and will work with Chad on the development of his own brand, media profile and partnership strategy in the build-up to Rio 2016.

Commenting on the new signing, Jamie Cunningham, CEO and founder of Professional Sports Group said: ‘We’re delighted to be working for Chad. Chad is one of the few global stars of swimming in this post-Phelps era. He could well be one of the stars of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and should peak at Rio in 2016.’

Cunningham added: ‘Chad is one of the few international swimmers who can work globally with brands outside of his sport and make a real commercial impact. We’ll be working on his digital platforms as well as developing a new brand media strategy. Chad’s a great communicator with a strong work ethic and family values. Whilst home is South Africa, where he enjoys incredible support, Chad can become a global sports star – of that I have no doubt. Most importantly, Chad’s a winner. He has that competitive fire that separates the great from the good, as we saw in London last year.’
