Sainsbury’s has revealed that its Paralympic campaign – the 1m Kids Challenge – created to encourage children of all ages and abilities to give a Paralympic sport a go – has now received over 1.9 million children pledged from schools from across the UK.?
The pledges have come from 5,726 schools who will now start to take delivery of free Paralympic sports equipment from Sainsbury’s for the start of the new school term.?
The Sainsbury’s 1m Kids Challenge aims to make Paralympic sports more accessible, by supplying free sports equipment to schools so children can give Paralympic sports a try for the first time.

Jat Sahota, Sainsbury’s head of sponsorship said: ‘We are delighted to announce such a brilliant response from schools across the UK for the 1m Kids Challenge. We’re excited to be distributing Paralympic equipment to schools for the start of term so that children can get active by having a go at a Paralympic sport’.??
LOCOG chair Seb Coe, OBE commented: ‘The news that nearly two million children have pledged to participate in the Sainsbury’s 1m Kids Challenge demonstrates the nation’s enthusiasm to be involved and take part in every aspect of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. We’re delighted to be working with a company such as Sainsbury’s who are making a success of promoting Paralympic sports and are committed to inspire young people’.
