Sky has announced that it has entered into a five-year deal with AEG to become a founding partner of The O2, the venue that will host a number of upcoming major sports events including elements of the London 2012 Olympics and the ATP World Tour Finals.
As a brand partner, Sky will take advantage of the range of brand engagement opportunities across the venue.
Sky will be the exclusive brand partner within the TV, home broadband and telephony categories, and joins existing founding partners such as, Adidas, BMW and Coca Cola.
Sky will use the reach and positioning of The O2 to engage visitors across its brand, content, and products and services, as well as working with AEG to bring some of The O2’s great events to the screens of Sky customers. 2010 has been earmarked as an integration date.
In addition to media and advertising in the venue, Sky will brand a number of high profile areas across the venue, including the 3D enabled cinema and cutting edge bar and hospitality area.
All screens within the arena will be converted to High Definition (HD) and used to demonstrate Sky+HD. Sky plans to launch a customer reward programme that will include VIP access to events, exhibitions and screenings across the venue.
