Sport magazine has become the largest men’s lifestyle magazine in the UK
overtaking the Emap-owned FHM according to the latest set of ABC figures – the
official readership measurement audit for the publishing industry.

In its first ever ABC audit, Sport, distributed by French-based publisher
Sport Publishing outside London Underground stations, reported a monthly
circulation of 317,093 copies, making it the largest men’s lifestyle magazine in
the UK.

Conversely FHM, which has recently undergone a revamp under newly installed
editor-in-chief Anthony Noguera, recorded a period-on-period decline of 16.1% to
311,590 copies and year-on-year drop of 25.9%.

Other established men’s magazines also suffered with Loaded posting a
period-on-period drop of 25.9% between January and June 2007, taking it down to
120,492 copies, with its year-on-year figure now down by 35%.

Dennis Publishing’s Maxim was also badly hit, returning a period-on-period
decline of 18.1% and a year-on-year drop of 26.3%, taking it down to 107,687
copies a month.

The latest ABC figures covered the six months between January and June, 2007.
