talkSPORT, the world’s biggest sports radio station, will highlight the best grassroots programmes in British sport after backing The Community Programme Award at the Sport Industry Awards 2013.
The Community Programme Award will reward the country’s most innovative, impactful and effective grassroots community project. A shortlist of six will be unveiled as part of the Official Shortlist for the Sport Industry Awards on Thursday 14th February, and the winner will be crowned at the star-studded Sport Industry Awards ceremony on Thursday 2nd May.
Through its partnership with the award, talkSPORT will profile the six shortlisted projects to millions of listeners across the country. The station is listened to by over three million adults every week and has almost three million unique users to its website – talkSPORT.co.uk – every month.
Calum Macaulay, talkSPORT, managing director, commented: ‘talkSPORT connects with its huge audience across the UK and worldwide through its sport content. We reach our audience via many platforms and embrace social media, so we reach communities across the country. Sport engages people like nothing else and talkSPORT is seen as a key driver of debate around sport. Our listeners are massively involved in sport at all levels from professional to grass roots so this is a great Award for us to be involved with. We are proud to support and promote an Award that rewards the clubs, teams and organisations who are using their position in sport to transform their cities and regions.’
Nick Keller, chairman of the Sport Industry Group, added: ‘talkSPORT’s reach across the UK makes it the perfect partner for The Community Programme Award. The additional profile the six shortlisted programmes and eventual winner of the Award receive will not only help them continue their fantastic work but, we hope, take it to the next level.’
