Samsung has revealed ‘Team Samsung’ – its selection of top British athletes who will be opening up their lives and training regimes to the public through Samsung’s ‘digital hub’ in the run up to London 2012.

Samsung is leveraging its position as wireless communication equipment category sponsor to offer the British public the chance virtually experience every moment between now and July with its team of athletes.

Triple jumper Phillips Idowu, wheelchair basketball captain Jon Pollock, Olympic gold medallist and cyclist Victoria Pendleton, synchronised swimmer Jenna Randall and equestrian Zara Phillips are amongst those on Team Samsung. They will each be using Samsung technology to document their training and interact with fans throughout the build up.

‘I’m gearing up for the London 2012 Games and my training’s getting more and more intense as it’s so close now,’ said Idowu. ‘It’s really exciting that I can use technology to stay in touch with my fans and help them share my experiences and take part too.’

Zara Phillips added: ‘The London 2012 Games are right upon us now and athletes hoping to compete are training harder than ever. For me, the fans’ support has always meant so much and it’s incredible to be able to interact and invite them to take part through the use of technology, it’s not something we’ve done before.’

SP Kim, President and CEO, Samsung Europe said: ‘Samsung’s goal for London 2012 is to use our position as wireless equipment partner to make it truly everyone’s Olympic Games. Alongside our range of Olympic initiatives, we’re delighted that some of Britain’s top athletes are helping us create even more opportunities for people to take part.’
