Following this week’s funding decisions by Sport England and the varied success in driving levels of participation amongst sports, Threepipe and Tenmonkeys have announced a new joint offering specifically tailored to help governing bodies develop integrated marketing, promotional and grassroots campaigns.

The two agencies will combine their expertise within sport to offer a ‘one stop shop’ solution for governing bodies seeking to create campaigns that raise awareness of opportunities to play their sport, engage people through social media and deliver ground-level programmes.

Eddie May, MD of Threepipe, a PR and social media agency with experience of working numerous governing bodies across a wide range of sports, said: ‘For sports like cycling, triathlon and netball, which have received a funding boost, it’s imperative to deliver joined-up campaigns that continue the great progress made in participation in recent years. For others that have seen their funding reduced, the challenge is on to create programmes that genuinely make a difference to the numbers of people being inspired to take up that sport.’

Caj Sohal, MD of Tenmonkeys, a consultancy specialising in sports participation programmes, said: ‘All too often we see programmes that deliver awareness but lack real grass-roots engagement, or vice-versa. I strongly believe that, if they want to really push the needle on participation, sports need to adopt a much more integrated approach to marketing themselves and engaging with people. Our partnership with Threepipe puts us in a great position to offer this and to help make a real difference.’
