Olympic organisers have put thousands of tickets back on sale for the Games in a bid to fill the empty seats at venues across London 2012.

In the lead-up to the Olympics, London 2012 claimed there would be no empty seats at the venues after being overwhelmed with ticket requests.

However, the sight of gaps in whole sections of stands at ‘sold out’ sessions has upset many fans who missed out on tickets.

The accredited “Games Family”, such as sports officials and media, has reportedly been blamed for the empty seats but London 2012 have said that international federations have started giving tickets back to sell to the public.

Yesterday, the head of the British Olympic Association insisted that new measures needed be introduced to ensure there are no more empty seats in the stands at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
