TVC Group has launched a dedicated sport offering, TVC Sport, with two new senior hires set to join the growing team. As part of the new section, Ben Barker joins as head of sport and Maryann Stevens as senior account director. Barker will lead the team, with Stevens working alongside him and the existing TVC sports team, reporting to TVC Group managing director (UK), James Myers.
Ben joins from Hill+Knowlton Strategies where he most recently created and lead their sponsorship consultancy division Soho Partners. Over the last 11 years Ben has worked around the world, across football, rugby, F1, Olympics, cycling and sailing projects with blue chip brands and clients.
Maryann joins from Brand Rapport and Generate Sponsorship. She brings a range of sports sponsorship activation experience to TVC. Maryann will be leading on the day to day activation and strategic support across all our current sports clients.
The division will focus on developing campaigns for brands which have, or want a platform in sport. Existing sports clients include British Gas SwimBritain, Betway, Whole Earth Peanut Butter, Castrol, Nike, Red Bull and Williams Martini Formula One.
James said: ‘We live in an agency world where we’re expected to know a little about a lot, and agencies are becoming more generalists. We believe there is an even greater need to build teams of specialist talent, and given that sport has always been part of our DNA it felt appropriate to create a dedicated sport offering.’
Ben added: ‘Now is a really exciting time to be joining James and the team at TVC, with landmark projects for the likes of Red Bull and British Gas. Their award winning foundation in content and digital is clearly engaging clients across multiple industries. We aim to continue this growth with the establishment of a dedicated team to help clients maximise their brand relationships with sport.’
