Universal Music Group has signed a licensing deal with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
The deal will see Universal Music exclusively release London 2012-branded music, including compilation albums.
It also covers the composing, publishing and recording of London 2012-related music between now and the Games.
Universal Music will also act as consultants to advise LOCOG on all aspects of music at the Games.
The deal represents the first time that an organising committee has signed such a wide-ranging deal with a music company.
As it heads towards its £2bn budget for staging the Olympic and Paralympic Games, LOCOG has seven domestic Tier One Partners – adidas, BMW, BP, British Airways, BT, EDF and Lloyds TSB.
There is also one domestic Tier One Paralympic Games Partner, Sainsbury’s.
