Vancouver Olympic Winter Games organisers are expecting to sell all 1.6m tickets for the 86 events, the first time an Olympics has sold out.
Prices for the events range from $25 for the biathlon and cross country skiing events to $1,100 for the Opening Ceremony.
The Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 came close to selling out with 95% of the 1.6m tickets available sold, as did the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing which sold almost 96% of the 6.8m tickets available.
Dave Cobb, deputy chief executive officer of the Vancouver organizing committee, said that: ‘Demand has been huge’, for the Vancouver Games.
Some of the tickets for events such as curling, ice hockey and the closing ceremony will be sold on the day, but Cobb expects them to be sold out.
