Winter Sports To Oppose 2022 World Cup

The Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and the International Ski Federation (FIS) are expected launch a joint opposition campaign against the proposed winter move of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The FIS has called on all governing bodies of winter sports to stand against the plans over fears the move could damage the 2022 Winter Olympics.

A final decision on the timing of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected after the tournament is staged in Brazil next year following a consultation with the event’s major stakeholders.
